A two part wooden butter mould which would turn out a three dimensional sheep. This is carved in beechwood. It is English and it dates from c.1880. It is well carved but, although the style of the carving is quite primitive, which adds to its charm.
There is a chip to the wood on the end of one side but other than that it is in very good condition. It only has one of its original pegs which locate the two sides together. It could still be used and would turn out well due to the depth of the carving.
