An interesting,19th century, rectangular butter print. This is quite an unusual type of print, with a simple lined design which would be impressed onto the top of a rectangular block of butter. It is carved in beechwood and it dates from c.1840. The nicely turned handle screws into the back of the print. There are a few wood worm holes but these have now been treated and the worm is no longer active. There is slight staining, from use, and the handle has wear to one side. Otherwise the piece is in very good condition and the wood has a lovely, rich patina.
