A two part wooden butter mould with a wheatsheaf design. This type of mould would turn out a three dimensional form. This one is well carved, in sycamore, and it dates from c.1820. It is not common to find the two parts of the earlier examples still together but we have recently been fortunate enough to buy a small collection so we do have a number of them.
Condition: There are numerous wood worm holes to both sides and there is also some dark staining.
Dimensions when the two parts are together: Height 11.3cm Width 8cm. Depth 5cm.
