A 19th century, French copper, sugar spinner. This piece has a long, narrow spout and was designed for doing very fine sugar work. This included making sugar baskets and other fancy shapes where you needed to drizzle the moulton sugar. For this purpose items were never tinned. This example is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper. It has a substantial brass fitting and a simple, but practical wooden handle. There is a tiny split in the spout but otherwise it is in good condition. It dates from c.1890.
