Dimensions:

H: 12.5cm (4.9")Di: 14cm (5.5")

A very good quality, 19th century copper pipe mould. This mould is marked with an engraved cockerel and the pattern number '268'. The cockerel is the mark of the French company Letang. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1870.  The design is three tiered. It has eight small domes, divided by stiff leaves, to the top section. The middle section is fluted and the lower section is plain. The design is very crisp and the mould is in excellent condition. Pipe moulds were generally used for baking as your pudding will cook from the inside as well as the outside, making it cook through quicker.  The tinning, to the interior, is worn so this could no longer be used but it is a very good. decorative mould..
