A  19th century, French copper saucepan and cover. This piece is marked, on the lid, ‘LEGRY 2 R. MIROMESNIL’. Legry were suppliers of quality copper kitchen ware in Paris in the 19th century. The lid is also beautifully engraved with a large, fancy, letter ‘W’. The side of the pan is also stamped with a number '18' which relates to the internal diameter of the pan. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. It has the typical form of French steel handles and the flat lid can also be used on pans of a smaller size. The pan is 18.3cm. diameter by 9.3cm. deep. Overall, including the handles and lid, the piece is 39 long by 19.8cm. wide by 17.2cm. high. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
