Sugar bowl with pouring spout

SOLD

Code: F18531

An interesting, small, round bottomed, copper bowl with a pouring spout and handles. This piece is made from quite a light gauge of copper and it dates from c.1870. It would have been used for caramelising sugar. Usually, bowls for this purpose were made from a much heavier gauge of copper. There is a small brased split in the side of the bowl. This is not a repair but it is from the manufacture, where there must have been a small split in the sheet of copper which was being used. It was repaired rather than rejected. The bowl measures 24cm. diameter by 14cm. deep and overall, including the handles it is 30cm. wide by 17cm. high. It is in very good condition, with just slight scratching to the interior, from use.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £25. Western Europe add £10.
