A plain, but very unusual shaped, 19th century copper pie mould. This is hinged at both ends, with the one end being held together by a brass pin, and it would have been used for forming the pastry sides for a pie. After filling the pie a fancy pastry top would be added. The mould is well made, from quite a heavy gauge of copper. The copper hinges are attractively shaped and there is a castellated seam around the top rim of the piece. It dates from c.1880 and is in excellent condition.
