A nineteenth century, French copper casserole of quite unusual form. This is different in that it has a folding, brass handle which would have been used to suspend the pan over a fire. It also has an ornate brass handle to the lid. It would have been used for cooking a small joint of meat and the drainer, to the interior, makes it easy to remove the joint from the pan. It is made from a very heavy gauge of copper, it has castellated seams and it dates from c.1860. It is in very good condition and, although it has not been re-tinned recently, the tinning is still in very good, usable condition.
