Letang copper casserole

A good quality, French copper, rectangular casserole with canted corners. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has ornate brass handles to both sides and also to the lid, and it dates from c.1870.  Both the lld and the side of the pan are marked with a cockerel and this is the mark of the French company Letang. They are also stamped ‘C.C.’ above a number ‘4. These would be the marks of a previous owner.  The pan measures 30cm. long by 17.3cm. wide and 16.9cm. deep. The overall measurements, including the handles are 40.2cm. long by 19.5cm high. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned, so that it can be used.
