A good, 19th century, English copper egg whisking bowl. These round bottomed bowls were used for whisking eggs. They were never tinned as the white of an egg reacts with the copper and the result is a lighter, fluffier meringue. This one is marked ‘JONES BROS 4 DOWN ST. W.’ in a circular mark near to the ring handle. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. It is in excellent condition.
