Crested sauce pan

SOLD

Code: F19327

A small, 19th century, English copper saucepan and cover. This is made from a heavy gauge of copper, it has castellated seams, and it dates from. c.1860. It is marked, to the base, with a large letter ‘O’ and four dots forming a square. On the side of the pan it is engraved with a crown over a letter ‘W’.  This was the mark of Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, and it would have come from his kitchens. Originally there would have been an inch or so of tin around the exterior rim of the pan but this has been partially removed. There is very slight denting to the lid but otherwise the pan and cover are in very good condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used. The pan measures 13cm. diameter by 9.2cm. high and the overall length of the pan and handle is 25cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £25. Western Europe add £10.
