A Mauchlineware box for sewing machine needles. This box is designed to take different sizes of needles for a sewing machine. The top is printed with an advert for Singer’s sewing machines and the side is printed with a view of the Hydropathic Establishment in Crieff, Scotland. This was purpose built, as a hotel, in 1868, offering hydrotherapy. 

The box was made in the town of Mauchline, c.1880. It is in very good condition.
