A nineteenth century steel palette knife with a rosewood handle. This is stamped 'VR' to either side of a crown, above ' JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY', and it dates from c.1870. The steel blade is attached to the handle with a copper collar and the piece is well made. It is in very good condition but there us some pitting to the blade.
