Wedgwood trio.

A Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip, trio comprising a cup, saucer and plate. Each item has impressed marks ‘WEDGWOOD’, ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ and ‘CAPERNS LTD BRISTOL’. Caperns were a company which made bird seed and this design was commissioned by Caperns, from Wedgwood, to be sold in Caperns shop in Bristol. They date from c.1930. The plate and cup are decorated with a group of three birds on a branch and there are foliate sprigs to the rim of the plate. The saucer has a border of leaves. These designs are quite different to the usual relief decoration found on Wedgwood jasper wares and they are very attractive. All three pieces are in excellent condition. The plate is 15.2cm. diameter. The saucer is 14.3cm. diameter and the cup is 9.5cm. diameter by 6.5cm. high.
