Trench Art, copper and brass moneybox

SOLD

Code: F19570

A fantastic, copper and brass money box in the shape of a house. This is a piece of Trench Art which would have been made by a soldier or a prisoner of war towards the end of the first world war and it is dated, on the side, “1918”. It certainly took a skilled person to create this beautifully made piece. There is superb detail to every aspect and even the mechanics of the piece are clever. There are two circular panels in the sides of the house which you have to push in, in order to release the roof to retrieve your money which was put in through the slot in the chimney. The house sits on a bakelite base.

Probably French. Date c.1918.

Dimensions: Length 20.2cm. Width 14.8cm.  Height  18cm.

Condition: Excellent, with a fabulous patina to the copper and brass.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Western Europe add £10.
