A rare, pottery jelly mould with a child and dog to the base. Over the years we have had a couple of examples of this design, some from the 18th century and potted in creamware. This is a heavy, ironstone example and it dates from c.1860. The only marks are an impressed ’S 7’ to the side of the mould.
The design, which is very well detailed, shows a child with a dog under one arm and a basket in her other hand. The border design resembles fence panels.
Dimensions: Length 19cm. Width 14.5cm. Depth 8.5cm.
English Ironstone: Date c.1860.
Condition: Slight crazing to the glaze but otherwise good.
