Well used, Victorian breadboard

A Victorian, beechwood breadboard. This is carved with a continuous border of flowers and leaves. The face of the board has had quite a hard life and has obviously been well used as there is deep scratching and cut marks not only in the centre but also across the border. This does give the board character and the wood has a rich patina. It dates from c.1880.
