Early 19th cent. silver lustre jug

SOLD

Code: G20098

A good quality, early 19th century, silver resist lustre jug. This jug is decorated, to the body, with a wide band of stylised foliage and there is a further, narrow band of foliage to the rim. To achieve this effect, with the silver lustre, the design was painted onto the piece using oils and then the item was dipped in the lustre glaze. The oils resisted the glaze so the design shows through in the base colour of the pottery.

English pearlware. Date c.1820.

Dimensions: Height 14cm. Width 15.7cm. Diameter 12.4cm.

There is a chip to the top of the handle. Otherwise, it is in very good condition and the lustre is still very bright.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
