A Victorian copper jelly mould. This type of mould was known as a fancy border mould. It was used for moulding a ring of either sweet or savoury food and the centre could then be filled with a further ingredient. Forget the jellies, why not mould a ring of mashed potato and fill the centre with devilled kidneys.
This is a great shape, resembling a crown, and it dates from c.1880. It is made from a substantial gauge of copper and is in very good condition. There is a hole in the rim and this is possibly from where a hanging loop has been removed. The tinning, to the interior, is worn.
Dimensions: Diameter 18.8cm Height 7.5cm.
