18th century, plaster copy of the Borghese Vase

A large, 18th century, plaster copy of the Borghese Vase. Copies of the Borghese Vase have been made in various materials throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. This is an exceptionally finely modelled piece. It is cast in plaster which has then been coated in a hard black wax. The fine quality of the moulding  probably dates it to c.1780 although such items can be difficult to date accurately. 

It is in excellent condition.
