Heavy, steel cheese cutter

A heavy, cast steel chopper which could have been used for herbs and vegetables or it could have been made as a cheese cutter. It is stamped, in the blade, “A V D BOOM”. This is a Dutch name and could relate to a previous owner or the manufacturer as we have not come across this mark on steel before. The handle is carved in pine, which is quite unusual as it was not a wood commonly used for this type of item.

Probably Dutch Date c.1860.
