Sycamore Board carved "Our Daily Bread"

A 19th century, sycamore breadboard carved with “Our Daily Bread”. This board has a lovely, honey coloured patina and it is well warped with age and use. The border is also carved with very simple, long leaves and all of the carving is worn and characterful. Often breadboards were turned over and used on the reverse, so as not to affect the design too much and this has cut marks to both the face and the reverse, showing extensive use. It dates from c.1880 and it is in good condition, with no splits.
