Large, French Copper Cake Mould

A large, 19th century copper mould. Moulds of this size were generally used for baking cakes and other sweet desserts. This example is stamped with a pattern number “N 9”. It is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper, it is French, and it dates from c.1880. The design consists of a stylised flower to the top with the six petals divided by arches. Beneath this are twelve rounded topped columns. 

It is in excellent condition but the tinning, to the interior, is very worn and flakey so it could not be used without being re-tinned. It is however, a good size and a lovely, decorative mould.
