Carved Wooden Fruit Tray

An unusual, carved wooden platter for serving fruit. This is French and it dates from c.1900. It is signed, to the underside, by the carver “Michel”. It is beautifully carved with large fruits to either end. The tray sits very neatly in the hands and there are cut outs underneath so that when you put the tray down your hands are kept clear of the table. This would be delightful to use as a fruit bowl or for serving fruit at the table. There are two small chips to the underside, one at either end, but otherwise the piece is in very good condition and the wood has a rich patina.
