A nineteenth century copper measure. This is English and it dates from c.1850. It is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. The handle is hollow and there is a foot rim giving a recessed base. Although in the shape of a tankard this was never made for use as such as the interior has never been tinned so it is more likely to be a measure for grain. It is in good condition, with just a little denting to the hollow handle.
Dimensions: Height 16.8cm. Diameter 15.5cm. Width including the handle 24.5cm.
