An oblong, French copper casserole and cover. This is a very good quality piece, made from a very heavy gauge of copper and having castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has very simple brass handles to the sides but there is a flat, strap handle to the lid which has almost heart shaped fittings. It dates from c.1860 and other than some very slight pitting to the copper it is in very good condition. It has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
