French, Oval Baking Dish or Gratin

A good quality, French copper gratin or baking dish dating from c.1890. This is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it has attractive, fixed brass handles to either end. It is stamped with a number ’36’ which relates to the length of the dish in centimetres. It is a useful size for a large vegetable gratin or for roasting a small joint of meat or fish. There is slight scratching to the copper on the base, from use, but other than that it is in excellent condition. The interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.                                                                                                                                                                                                     Dimensions: Length of dish 36.7cm.
